IE TO Day 2017

Collaboration Forum – BRIDGES 2017

BRIDGES 2017 is a city-wide Collaboration and Partnership Forum that brings together service provider representatives from across the City of Toronto and from multiple sectors to discuss, share experiences and learn about collaboration and partnership building. The theme of this year’s BRIDGES 2017 Forum focuses on collaborative action. In addition to learning, the Forum will offer opportunities for participants to share and discuss their own ideas for collective action with other forum attendees. Read more

 

Scarborough Community Safety Week 2016

From October 16th to 22nd, 2015 the Toronto East Quadrant Local Immigration Partnership (TEQ LIP), in collaboration with local and regional partners, is organizing its 3rd annual Scarborough Community Safety Week. The event aims to create more opportunities for service providers, newcomers and the community in Scarborough to work together in addressing safety issues and improving neighbourhood safety measures for Scarborough’s diverse immigrant resident groups. Immigrant Employment Toronto Day 2016

The Toronto East Local Immigration Partnership (TEQ LIP) is pleased to present the new city wide initiative Immigrant Employment T.O Day 2016. Immigrant Employment T.O. Day 2016 is a collaborative city-wide event focused on fostering personal and professional connections for immigrant professionals, employers and business networks. This year, marks the 4th annual Immigrant Employment T.O. Day, which was previously referred to asImmigrant Employment Week. Read more

 

Syrian Refugee Crisis Response

As millions of Syrians continue to be displaced due to conflict in their home country, the Government of Canada committed to work with Canadians, including private sponsors, non-governmental organizations, provincial, territorial and municipal governments to welcome 25,000 Syrian refugees by the end of February, 2016. A significant number of refugees are expected to settle in Toronto. TEQ LIP is committed to working with our partners in Scarborough in preparation and support of settlement of Syrian Refugees. Meet the Funders Forum – 2015

On October 8, 2015 the Toronto Newcomer Office, the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade and the Toronto East Quadrant Local Immigration Partnership in collaboration with Toronto Public Library and Toronto Public Health hosted a Meet the Funders Forum at McGregor Park Community Centre in Scarborough. The Forum was designed to be a capacity-building day for local service providers and grassroots organizations focused on funding opportunities, current funding priorities and on addressing common challenges in writing successful grant proposals.  Read more

 

Immigrant Employment Week 2015

The third annual Immigrant Employment Week took place from May 25th – May 29th 2015 in locations across Toronto. The event was organized by the TEQ LIP Employment Action Group in collaboration with the Toronto Quadrant LIPs, the Toronto Newcomer Office as well as the Scarborough Integrated Local Labour Market Planning (ILLMP) networks. Key contributors to the planning of this year’s initiatives were Toronto Region Immigrant Council (TRIEC) and Toronto Employment and Social Services (TESS).

This year’s theme was centered  on creating “Connections for Success”. It aimed to highlight how employers and businesses can contribute in preparing immigrant professionals  for the transition into the Canadian labour market. Read more

The Forum is being organized by the Toronto East Quadrant Local Immigration Partnership in collaboration with all Toronto Quadrant LIPs and the Toronto Newcomer Office. Read more

Join us for our Opening Celebration on Monday, April 28, 10am-12pm at the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus, Instructional Centre Building Atrium where a panel of experts representing various sectors will discuss “Building  Businesses”, Hiring Immigrants”- Welcoming an Under-tapped Employment Resource.  Following the discussion will be an interactive activity and an opportunity to network. Read more

Live Well: Diversity and Mental Health Forum 2013

Over six and a half million Canadians experience a mental health disorder during their lifetime. That’s one in every five people! Unfortunately, many people don’t ask for help because they feel ashamed or scared of the cultural implications, stigma and methods of care associated to their condition or that of a family member. The forum brought together the diverse communities across Scarborough and East York, providing educational workshops, thought provoking discussions and interactive activities all aimed at exploring issues of mental wellness and diversity in our immigrant and newcomer communities. The forum explored both the challenges and effective strategies that foster stronger and healthier individuals and the communities in which they live in. Read more

Making our communities safer, stronger and more vibrant for all residents. The Toronto East Quadrant Local Immigration Partnership (TEQ LIP) in collaboration with local and regional partners has organized the Scarborough Community Safety Week, taking place October 7th – 11th, 2013. The event aims to raise awareness on a variety of safety concerns faced by newcomers and the community through interactive simulators, educational workshops and stimulating discussions with service organizations, residents and mainstream institutions. Read more
