Connecting opportunities and building capacity for writing wining funding proposals

On October 8, 2015 the Toronto Newcomer Office, the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade and the Toronto East Quadrant Local Immigration Partnership in collaboration with Toronto Public Library and Toronto Public Health hosted a Meet the Funders Forum at McGregor Park Community Centre in Scarborough. The Forum was designed to be a capacity-building day for local service providers and grassroots organizations focused on funding opportunities, current funding priorities and on addressing common challenges in writing successful grant proposals.
15 panelists and presenters representing a broad range of funding organizations shared their information and insights. Funders represented at the event included: Canadian Heritage; Canadian Women’s Foundation; City of Toronto; Collective Impact; Laidlaw Foundation; Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Foundation; Metcalf Foundation; Ministry of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade; Ontario Trillium Foundation; TD Bank; Toronto Public Health and Toronto Enterprise Fund

There were three presentations followed the panel discussion to provide more insight on developing project proposal, partnership building and sustainability.
- Building the business case – needs assessment, rationale and being strategic – Michelle Miller-Guillot, Ministry of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade
