The Toronto East Quadrant Local Immigration Partnership (TEQ LIP) is excited to share our Trauma-Informed Care for Service Providers in Settlement Workshop Series.
Facilitator: Dr. Tanaz Javan, Ph.D
This introductory workshop provides foundational knowledge for those looking to support survivors of domestic violence through a trauma and violence informed lens. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the theory and practical approaches to help survivors heal while ensuring safety and empowerment. Participants will explore key theoretical frameworks and approaches essential for assisting survivors, grounded in the principles of trauma and violence-informed care. These principles, such as safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment, will be reviewed in detail to ensure an effective and compassionate approach. The workshop will also explore the experiences of service providers, focusing on vicarious trauma and its impact on their well-being. By recognizing the signs and effects of secondary trauma, participants will learn strategies for maintaining resilience and self-care in their work environments.
