Collaboration Forum – BRIDGES 2015

The third annual BRIDGES 2015 Collaboration and Partnership Forum took place on February 12, 2015 at Global Kingdom Ministries, Scarborough. It brought together over 100 service provider representatives from across the City of Toronto for a day full of sharing, learning and discussions about working in partnerships and collaboration. The  forum offered opportunities for organizations across Toronto to share promising practices,  make new connections, be inspired by new ideas and discuss innovative and new ways for working together.

Welcome & Keynote Address:

Ginelle Skerritt, Executive Director of Warden Woods Community Centre welcomed forum participants and expertly led through the day’s agenda as the MC. The Forum opened with a thought-provoking keynote address by Jehad Aliweiwi, Executive Director of Laidlaw Foundation.

Funder’s Panel Discussion:

Representatives from Citizenship and Immigration Canada, the City of Toronto, Ontario Trillium Foundation and Toronto Foundation shared insights from the funder’s perspective on collaboration and partnerships in the context of current priorities and strategic directions.

Workshop 1: Building Cross-Sectoral Collaborations

In this session, speakers from IBM Canada, NPower and Flemingdon Ministries shared promising practices and discussed how we can build impactful and sustainable partnerships among fundamentally different institutions such as businesses, service providers, and faith communities.

Workshop 2: Integrating Partnerships And Collaboration In All Aspects Of Your Organization

In this workshop, presenters from St. Stephen’s Community House and Toronto Neighbourhood Centres spoke about becoming a partnership-oriented organization and some of the more challenging ways of collaborating, including consortium bidding, joint purchasing and joint fundraising, and shared some tried and tested tools.

Workshop 3: Collaborating For Community Impact I – Innovation In Co-Designing And Co-Creating Community Spaces

Complex community issues require collaborative responses – from everyone who cares about creating inclusive neighbourhoods. In this workshop, an innovative cross sector panel of speakers shared their experiences and learnings through the Community.Design.Initiative at the East Scarborough Storefront, creating inspiring youth designed community spaces in East Scarborough.

In this workshop, speakers from Agincourt Community Services Association and TRIEC PINs (Professional Immigrant Networks) explored strategies for building successful and lasting partnerships with resident and community groups.
